My husband and I have long held to the ideals of buying locally and living simply as best as we can. Someone told him once:
Borrow it if you can
If it can't be borrowed, buy it used
If you can’t get it used, then buy it locally
The theory doesn’t work for everything (there’s not much in the way of locally grown underwear, etc.), but we try to do what we can.
Holly Freeman Photography of Lakewood, Colorado had the honor of being featured recently by an online magazine called VoyageDenver, that is all about supporting local businesses:
“our mission is to build a platform that fosters collaboration and support for small businesses, independent artists and entrepreneurs, local institutions and those that make our city interesting. We want to change the way people spend their money – rather than spending it with the big, cookie-cutter corporations we want them to spend their money with the independent, creative, local entrepreneurs, small businesses and artists.”
I hope you’ll take a minute to READ THE ARTICLE and check out some of the other featured businesses.
In this holiday season of frenzied gift buying, let’s stop and consider how we can make a local purchase.
